At VAHBS (Virginia Homes Building Systems), building a modular home begins long before construction reaches the factory floor. It starts the moment a builder or homeowner shares their concept. From that initial idea, our team works closely to translate the vision into a practical, fully engineered plan. Every step is designed to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality results.

Once the concept is submitted, our design team develops a preliminary plan. The project information is entered into our advanced design and order system, allowing us to produce a precise estimate. After plan approval, full detail drawings are produced and stamped by a third-party engineering agency or local inspection authority. These approved plans are then used to secure a building permit, ensuring the project meets all regulatory standards.

With permits in place, our engineering department creates detailed production drawings that guide every aspect of module construction. The process begins with the floor system, built on a jig to maintain perfect alignment and structural integrity. Pre-constructed wall panels are then added, followed by the roof system, forming the structural shell of each module.

Next, skilled technicians install electrical wiring, plumbing, insulation, and exterior sheathing. Interior finishes—including cabinetry, fixtures, flooring, trim, sanding, and painting—are carefully completed. Every module undergoes a rigorous quality assurance inspection before being wrapped in protective plastic and prepared for transport.
